TAMING OF THE SHREW TICKETS ON SALE HERE!

Brevity Shakespeare will stage two full productions in 2025.

Cover art for the Brevity Shakespeare production of Taming of the Shrew, by William Shakespeare. A stick figure representation of a female figure holding a leash at the end of which is a male figure on his hands and knees.
Next to the stick figures is a list of words that reads: 'Fink, Miscreant, Heel, Knave, Cad, Jerk, Schmuck, Yutz, Putz, Scoundrel, Scamp, Rogue, Rascal, Prick.'

Our first will be Taming of the Shrew, presented in its original time and place, Renaissance Italy, with one small change: all of the roles are gender reversed. The original script tells of two young women pursued by a dozen men whose gallivanting is funded by their rich fathers.

The Brevity production will feature two young men courted by a dozen women whose gallivanting is funded by their rich mothers. Petruchio, Western literature's original gaslighter, becomes Petruchia; Kate, his target, becomes Nate; and the lissome Bianca becomes Bianco.

Brevity Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew will be directed by Veronica Long, who was in charge of our 2024 production of Richard III. Shrew will be performed on May 30-June 1 and June 6-8.
